Judge Marilyn Zayas’ judicial philosophy is that each case deserves to be heard, and the law should be applied even-handedly. She values a judicial system that is open, accessible, and accountable to all members of the community. She has partnered with her fellow judges to take the Court of Appeals to the community, where actual cases are heard in a community forum.

Judge Zayas created and implemented the “Students to Court of Appeals Program,” a partnership with local high schools to bring students to the Court of Appeals. Judge Zayas is committed to providing students with the opportunity to learn about the court system, observe the court system in action, and interact with judges and attorneys. Her goal is to inspire and mentor the next generation and encourage them to pursue their dreams regardless of the obstacles they face.
